What Is Give Back 5?
The Give Back 5 Community Giving Pledge is a group of people who commit to donating at least 5% of their retirement or other investment accounts to local nonprofits after their lifetime. It’s a flexible, future-focused way to support the causes you care about most.
The Community Giving Pledge was launched by a local committee of financial advisors, nonprofits, and the Greater Salina Community Foundation (GSCF). Their mission? To inspire local giving and strengthen our community’s future resources for the next generation. The GSCF recognizes that nonprofits are essential to Salina’s social, economic, and cultural wellbeing, and they’re dedicated to building their capacity through this initiative.
The Goal
The GSCF has set an ambitious target: to secure at least 125 pledges by June 30, 2025. As of the time of this publication, no less than 86 community members have signed the pledge! Each pledge brings us closer to a stronger, more vibrant Salina—will you be one of the 125?

How to Join the Pledge
The Community Giving Pledge is the easiest gift you’ll ever make. Here’s how to get started in just four simple steps:
- Pick Your Charity. Which nonprofits do you want to support? You can choose a single charity, multiple charities, or even opt to address future community needs without specifying a cause.
- Decide How and When Your Gift Creates Impact. For immediate impact, where the nonprofit can spend the entire amount, designate your gift directly to the charity. For long-term impact, where the principal stays intact and only the interest is distributed annually, designate your gift to the Community Foundation on behalf of the charity.
- List the Nonprofit as a Beneficiary. Add the nonprofit as a charitable beneficiary of your retirement or investment account. This can be done by meeting with your financial advisor or logging into your account online in less than five minutes.
- Fill Out a Pledge Card. Complete a pledge card online or download this card and submit it to your financial advisor or the Greater Salina Community Foundation. Add your name to the growing list of community champions!
